The Rurals are Andy Compton and Marie Tweek, a DJ and vocalist duo from the UK countryside who bring a fresh new flavour of smooth vocals and soulful instrumentals covering all genres between deep house, dancefloor, soul, jazz and funk. Their new LP, 10th Chapter, is one of their finest works to date displaying their undeniable talent. They recently remixed Marvin Gayes Aint Nothing But The Real Thing for Motown records, and had 2 tracks commissioned for the hit US Television series Six Feet Under. Their use of crunchy beats from Hip Hop/R&B blended with reggae roots has resulted in a truly unique album that appeals to everyone from young hip hop fans to old skool reggae lovers. Ingrid Hakanson’s tracks have enjoyed worldwide success as she continues to gain popularity as a respected writer and performer of various house vocal styles. Releases such as ‘Out of Touch’ with Dave Armstrong (2003) and ‘Freak for You’ and ‘Luscious’ with Swirl People (2007) have brought her amazing talent to the forefront of the house music scene. Appearing often as a live vocalist in her home town, Ingrid also travels for regular gigs in several cities on the west coast with local and out-of-town DJs such as Carlos Mendoza (LCG), Ken Christensen (ECB), Luke McKeehan (Nordic Trax), Jon Lee, Jason Tokita and several local BC and Seattle DJs.
