Raoul Belmans Swirl it Up Review - Exclaim Magazine (Toronto)

Swirl People - Swirl It Up - By Ashley Hampson
... Belmans’ record label, Aroma, has ballooned into one of the biggest house labels worldwide, while Belmans himself has gained stature as one of the world’s finest and highly respected house DJs. Swirl It Up offers a fresh sound for house music with first track “When I Think of You” featuring Chicago-based DJ Heather on vocals. The album is permeated with funk-infused bass lines, most notably on the smoothly delivered “Like to Boogie” and “Ride the Pony.” The one track that loudly stands out is the Latin spiced “To the Restaurant,” which sounds more like a Spanish For Beginners tape fused with a steady beat and spattered with keyboard. On the whole, Swirl It Up presents a score of danceable anthems and funk-ridden beats courtesy of the highly sought after Swirl People. (Aroma)

LAWNCHAIR GENERALS - WHEN I THINK - SWIRL PEOPLE REMIX - AROMA

The mighty LawnChair Generals sure have been quiet release-wise the past year but this is all about to change with this MONSTER cut being released on Belgium's esteemed Aroma imprint. "When I Think" was a big track at this year's WMC - it finally gets a proper release here after some sample clearance issues. If you're already a fan of the LCG (we here at Primal definitely are!) then you're in for a treat - this is classic LCG all the way: clever arrangement, great sound quality, and a groove to die for! Swirl People turn in a very nice remix on the flip that does some damage as well, but you just can't top the sublime original in my opinion. Killer shit, glad to see the LCGs back in the fray!

KEN ECB - I HEART BOUGIE - TOKA PROJECT REMIX - AMENTI MUSIC
(TEST PRESSINGS - PRIMAL WORLD EXLCUSIVE)
Ken ECB's "I Heart Bougie" is now available for download in professionally mastered, lossless WAV format, exclusively at AMENTI MUSIC
Amenti delivering another dancefloor bomb, this time from Ken Christensen (ECB) with "I Heart Bougie". The original on side A is a peak-time party jam with Ken's trademark shuffling beats, dope instrumentation (sampled from Bougie Solitaire's legendary "Got The Bug") and ultra funky "All that jazz in Chicago" vocal drops. This one's been getting support from Mark Farina, Inland Knights, and DJ Heather who used the cut on her recent "Om Summer Sessions 2" CD. Flip over for Toka Project's "Coast To Coast" remix, a deeper affair with great percussion and one of the baddest basslines we've heard in a while. The Toka Project mix sounds BIG on a club rig, and has been licensed to Mark Farina's upcoming "Live In Tokyo" mix CD, also on Om Records. Another must-have release from the always-reliable Amenti imprint, this is set to destroy dancefoors in the coming months.

DJ Ken Christensen Is Set to Embark on Worldwide Tour

Toronto, ON, August 29, 2007- Internationally renowned DJ Ken Christensen is preparing for a world tour for his newest CD release on Primal Records "Under the Influence". With stops in Orlando, D.C and San Francisco confirmed for September, Asia in October, Europe in November and Australia in December with more dates yet to come, Christensen is ready to impress the world with his refreshing blend of house music. This will mark Christensen’s first tour since his departure from the hugely popular duo East Coast Boogiemen, through which he appeared in various music publications and produced a plethora of music on international labels.

Recently Ken Christensen was hospitalized with deep vein thrombosis, a serious illness common for frequent air travelers. Christensen says, “I was put on medications and not allowed to tour extensively for six months. I barely cheated death, I’m one of the 23 percent who survive. I feel like I’ve been given another chance and this time around - I want to do it right”. Ken used his "down" time well with new productions in the studio including his remix of Bougie Soliterre's "Got The Bug" (licensed to Mark Farina and DJ Heather's OM CDs) along with new originals like "Wrong Crowd" on Alphabet Music are putting feeling back into house clubs worldwide.

The deep house guru is back in action on the decks touring his exciting new CD "Under The Influence" (PRIMAL) and hopes this tour will bring more exposure to house music audiences around the globe. The first tour stop will take place September 1, 2007 at Club Firestone in Orlando and followed up with a stop in Washington D.C at Five Nightclub on September 15, 2007. Promo copies available for his new Personal CD Series: "SubDisco Vol 1" (includes music frequently played at his residency alongside LawnChair Generals' Peter Christianson).

* M8 MAGAZINE REVIEW - BRETT JOHNSON / DJ HEATHER
Brett Johnson & DJ Heather - ‘Everything’s Electric’ (DOT BLEEP)
Jackin house beats are making a comeback and leading the charge is Fabric resident and Om Records first lady; DJ Heather. Here she’s back in the studio with her old mate, Brett Johnson, to produce a deadly acid groove that never fails to ignite the crowd every time I play it! Spoken vocals (sounding suspiciously like Heather herself) playing on the electric theme over rough clickety clack snares, crackling electricity sounds and a relentless acid hook; this is contagious! M8/M8 (Tania von Pear)

* New Live Mix from Olivier Desmet - Live from Five in Washington DC

Raoul Belmans "Swirl It Up" Tour in full swing! The Belgian house duo Swirl People (Dimitri Dewever & Raoul Belmans) is back with a follow up to their highly acclaimed albums 'Special Combo' (Aroma, 2004) and 'Hi Mom Lets Dance' (2002). Their new album 'Swirl It Up' was definitely worth the wait as critics already named it undoubtedly their best album to date, because of it bringing a fresh breath into house music.
