*Honey Claws Debut Album - Out Now!

honeyclaws.com

Available digitally now, Honey Claws' self-titled debut is, at its very heart, an electronic animal.  When its heart beats, you feel the floor shaking from sixty-six blocks away.  Sexed-up beats pulse thick with electro bass while a whole pile of robotic trippiness blankets the sound in a way that recalls like minded souls Daft Punk, Odelay-era Beck, and Kraftwerk. Still, the sound is all their own. Without Honey Claws there would be no Honey Claws music. Without Honey Claws music there would be no Honey Claws. They are a unique and new creature unto themselves. Check out “Shout Out” from their new album "Honey Claws", a playful party jam that radio’s been waiting for.... "Shout Out" LISTEN

*Ken Christensen Interview for Express Milwaukee

Here's a short excerpt from the interview...

...Christensen keeps tracks equally engaging on his Alphabet label, a European label distributed by the Belgium-based N.E.W.S. Distribution. He and partner Aaron Sparks operate both the label and a forthcoming online house-music boutique.
Christensen's recent move to Chicago has him thinking more about the social liquidity of a party, which on the underground house scene can change on any given night.

"A good party is 50% dancers and people, and 50% DJs," he said. "I think that DJs give more than 50% (as it is), and I think the clubs need to start focusing on the crowd more and get more creative in order to create that vibe again."

COKE'S WE8 PROJECT | Jay-J

As the world joins together for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games this summer, Coca-Cola has invited artists from around the globe to jointly depict what this monumental occasion means to them. The extraordinary alliance of visual and music artists from different lands started with eight blank canvasses of aluminum contour bottles – and eight corresponding themes reflecting the possibilities for happiness and connection from both the Coke Side of Life platform and the upcoming global gathering in Beijing.

Jay-J's latest effort 'Happiness' was just released for Coke's WE8 Project. 8 Chinese artists and 8 of the West's most progressive musicians (including Tiësto, Benny Benassi, Kaskade) have each been provided with a theme and using music as their form of expression, created a song that expanded on their inspiration drawn from the theme.  Limited Edition themeatic aluminum bottles available.

BRETT JOHNSON | NEW RELEASE ON CYNOSURE OUT NOW

CYNOSURE RECORDINGS IS PROUD TO PRESENT Brett Johnson's "The Pop Up e.p."

Side A
1.Sling Blade
2. The Way We Were

Side B
1.Space
2.Space (Basstrumental)

Brett Johnson is a household name in house music synonymous with super groovy, hip flexin' productions. We got in touch with Brett and begged for a little more of the funk and he came back to us with "The Pop up" Things kick off with a full blown Chicago style Jack attack on the A side with "Sling Blade". A rolling house groove, walking bass line and a low rez digital hook are the main ingredients here with some flashback induced effects sending things over the edge. Speaking of flashbacks on the second cut "The Way We Were" takes things back 20 years paying homage to the deep sound of the mid 80's. Pimpin' ain't easy… Saving the best for last Brett serves up his signature house sound with "Space". A bouncing melodic hook keeps popping up along side some old school funk packed bass, fused together with an underlie of groovy swung percussion. Things bubble and bounce up to beautiful melody that hit a mark that many house productions today fail to touch. And if all the melody was too much for you, well you've got the stripped down "Basstrumental" dub version to satisfy your mix. These cuts from Brett prove that certain classic elements of house will never die and never get tired. But he also proves that those elements can continue to be explored and redefined.

*** Selected feedback for Brett Johnson -" The Pop Up e.p." - Cynosure Recordings

Adam Marshall (New Kanada,Kuji): " Amazing release from Brett! Love "Slingblade" and "Space", and wicked that there's an instrumental dub! Killer swing by Mr. Jack. Heavy rotation..."

Dj.Sisi(Timothy Really/otation): " CYN030 is So Yabai(mean is "So cool" from Japanese)!!! "the way we were" is very beautifully , reminds of a lounge side of a classic label. Brett is a hero for me for a long time."

Jamie Jones (Crosstown Rebels): "Really like the beatstrumental mix. will be playing for sure. nice simple groove."

Jeff Samuel (poker flat, trape): " Nice to hear from ya, these are my choice cuts: sling blade - will play the shit out of this space bassdub great tracks man!"

Jimpster (Freerange): "Bumpy and twisted up stuff which brett can craft to perfection. Maximum wonkiness for the dancefloor. quality stuff. cheers..... "

Sety (Circus Company): " Space (Bassstrumental mix) is sick...woooow love the sling blade as well tasty "

For Immediate Release

Filmmaker and multi-media entrepreneur Helton "Brazilionaire" Siqueira (19 years old) wins "Best Music Video" category at the CineYouth film festival presented by Cinema / Chicago. His music video, "Technology" was a short-form music video starring "The RichKiddz" rapping and singing about today's youth involvement with technology culture.  This piece is a derivative of a 10 minute video/concert extravaganza that Brazilionaire made along with co-director and music producer "Butch Stewart" of Joy Art Music which was the opening event to the 2008 McDonald's World Wide Convention in Orlando, Florida.  This piece premiered to a crowd of 15,000+ people, all of which are the owners and operators of every McDonald's franchise of the world.

Brazilionaire has been working with the Stewart family for over a year now, who have been in the industry for over 30 years working with major clients such as Burrell, McDonald's, and Oprah Winfrey to name a few.  This year alone Brazilionaire has worked with the Stewart family on the widely viewed "Freedom Auto Depot" Commercial featuring the Stewart family's own "B-Cow" African American country group.  Other projects also include the 2008 Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage Cruise DVD, which is the DVD of the Tom Joyner Cruise, a fundraiser to raise money for students at historically black colleges and universities which has raised over 50 million dollars in the past 9 years.

Brazilionaire owns and runs multi-media company Brazilionaire Entertainment, formally known as Reality Media Studios, LLC.  Brazil is also managed by Shannon "DJ Skip" Syas & Steve "Silk" Hurley (S&S Records) At age 19, he has several national credits to his name, including Editor and Co-Cinematographer for the hit music video "Watch My Feet" (directed by Morocco Vaughn) as seen on MTV/BET and mentioned in Rolling Stones Magazine, as well as Director and Editor for the nationally nominated "Chicago LP/DVD".

His next project is the highly anticipated "FootworKINGz DVD" featuring the all-star Chicago dance group; The FootworKINGz as seen on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Rolling Stones Magazine, BET's 106 & Park, and live on tour with Madonna.

Swirl People featuring Ingrid Hakanson – Love songs
Aroma (aroma058)

Track listing:
A1. Love songs (Original club mix)
A2. Love songs (Dub mix)
B. Fake people

Belgium’s most famous house cats are back and ready for the year 2008 after releasing their successful last album ‘Swirl It Up’ with brand new material featuring the stunning vocals of Swedish native Ingrid Hakanson (who just joined the roster of apt Entertainment). The title track ‘Love Songs’ is a sublime piece of soulful house drenched into an eighties layer that makes this whole track sound very epic. People that loved her previous outing with Swirl People (‘Freak for You’; high in the playlist of several Belgian national radio stations) know exactly what the deal is with this song! Comes both in an original club mix and a dub mix that’s all about the break! Bonus track for this release is ‘Fake People’, bringing you sleazy bass lines and stabs accompanied by quirky keys, mysterious whispers and an amazing saxophone solo. In other words another Swirl People dance floor sure shot!!!

Feedback

Giom: Good to see Swirl Peepz back on track! Love this one, I play the main vocal mix and the dub!

Sarunas Karalius (RyRalio records): 10/10 excellent release !!!

Joey Youngman (fetish recordings): Loving these songs, especially "love songs" (see how i did that?), great retro vibe and that bass is straight NASTY! Once again Aroma has laced me with some dope music

Inland Knights present the ‘Chewy Mango EP’. The third release from Raise Recordings, the new offshoot of the mighty Drop Music, the label that has been home to the Inland Knights for the past 10 years. To those familiar with their work it’s perhaps a slight departure from the traditional big bass-lined Midland’s house they’ve become famous for over the years, but by no means in a negative direction.

OLIVIER DESMET ON TOUR

San Francisco Sessions Vol. 6, his latest mix for the fabled Om Records label. Desmet is a champion of the signature Om sound: melodic, sophisticated deep and funky house studded with horn stabs, soulful vocal samples and intricate, groovy percussion loops. In his DJ mixes, Desmet favors intimate-sounding records with killer bass lines that carry the hooks — the perfect thing for old-school house lovers who don't need to be hit over the head with flashy production tricks to appreciate a great track. Desmet's keen ear has served him well as the head of Amenti Music, his record label, and in his own productions and remix work, which have made their way into the record boxes of celebrated DJs including Mark Farina, Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak. KENNY HAWKES

OUT NOW!

The Booby Trap (Exclusive on Beatport)

Booby Trap - Kenny Hawkes and David Parr

Label: Arcobaleno
Format: Single
Genre: House

There are many DJs from our shores that claim to be legends or perpetuate the myth bestowed upon them by the headline-grabbing press, but some simply have been there since dot and quietly ply their trade, short of the acclaim they deserve. Kenny Hawkes and David Parr should rightly be lauded with many of their contemporaries, but, despite sometimes slipping through the net, their skills behind the decks and desks still delight. From Hawkes’ own seminal Space night at Bar Rumba, and Parr’s own Stompa Phunk parties and label, they’re both canny veterans, and previous collaboration this year on Rekids has set the scene for a late-2007 classic in the making.

Booby Trap is an updated cut of ‘proper’ house music. While no doubt watching with amusement as each fad has come and gone over the years, the Hawkes and Parr have reached into their past for this seductive groover, and come up with something that melds both the past at the future for eight glorious minutes. Strings float over the arpeggiating synths, driving through the spine of the track, and showing that amongst all the clicks and pops of the year’s euro-centric sound, exists pure and simple house music. Arcobaleno boss and We Love… resident Serge Santiago is on remix duties, turning it into a deep, tribal-esque slab of immense proportions, adding weight and power, very much a naughties rework. A superb release. Reviewer: Guy Hornsby
